Morristown, NJ – November 25, 2013 — On Sunday November 24, 2013 members of Morristown Unitarian Fellowship gathered at a Special Congregational Meeting to vote on a Resolution whether to move forward with a membership based Capital Campaign. Over 170 of its 350 adult members participated in this meeting. The congregation voted overwhelmingly in favor of the resolution.

As the result of an extensive “Strategic Plan” planning process that began in 2010 the Fellowship created a Master Plan to address the congregation’s Long Term Strategic Plan goals for Worship, Religious Education and Community space requirements. The Master Plan identified a financial need of $7.1 million and the Plan is divided into two primary phases.

The goal of the Capital Campaign is to raise as much towards this vision as possible, with the primary focus being on the needs identified within Phase I of the Master Plan. The primary elements of Phase I are: expanded and improved parking; a new Fellowship Hall; additional Religious Education classrooms; and addressing some of the needs of the existing building, included replacing the 100 year old roof. The identified need of Phase I is $3.2 million.

Morristown Unitarian Fellowship plans on conducting an extensive capital campaign between now and the next 90 days. The fellowship has engaged the services of Ward, Dreshman & Reinhardt, Inc. of St. Charles, IL to assist with the capital campaign. Ward, Dreshman & Reinhardt, Inc., a division of James D. Klote & Associates, is a professional capital stewardship consulting firm that works with non-profits, congregations, and churches nationally to deliver campaign success.

“With such strong support to move forward with a Capital Campaign, Morristown Unitarian Fellowship is well poised for campaign success. While the campaign target of $3.2 million is aggressive at 6.8 times current annual giving, it is not unattainable based on the enthusiasm of the congregation,” commented Campaign Director, David Grove.
